Singer's Audition

For more information:
All singers must audition, either by tape or in person. The audition selections are:
- For Week 1 Singers: Nos. 1, 2, & 3 below
- For Week 2 Festival Choral Participants: Nos 1 & 2 below
- For Week 2 Festival Chamber Choir singers: Nos 1,2,3 & 4 below
- Please show us your vocal range by singing a scale from your middle register to your lowest notes,
and then by singing from your middle register to your highest notes.
- Sing "My Country 'Tis of Thee" without any accompaniment.
- Sing a solo classical music selection of your choice, in any language. Please keep
instrumental introductions very short.
- Sing, without any accompaniment, a 60-second excerpt from any standard Renaissance choral work.
Audition Tape
For those who wish to audition by tape, please record the above selections on an audio
cassette. Please enclose your tape in a cassette box and label both the tape and box
clearly with your name and voice part. Your solo selection should be listed on the box
as well. We are not able to return tapes.
Live Audtion
There will be live auditions in New York City, Westchester County, and Connecticut for
those who wish to audition in person.

Conductor's Audition
|
Conductors who wish to sing with the choruses should show in their resumes their ensemble
singing experience.

Conducting Audition Tapes
|
For those wishing to apply as Conducting Fellows or Participating Conductors,
please send with your application an audio cassette or video tape of you conducting.
Please label the tapes clearly with your name. We are not able to return tapes. Auditing
Conductors need not send tapes.

Please include in your mailed application materials:
- Colleges/conservatories attended with dates and degrees.
- Your principal conducting teachers.
- Previous conducting workshops attended with dates.
- Conducting experience, beginning with present position
(list your positions, dates, and type of ensemble).
- A clear listing of the selections on your audition tape,
including the dates of performance and the ensemble
and types of ensemble (professional chorus, school, church, etc.).
